The main topics we advocate for are human rights and the Bright Futures Scholarship.
In the past we have had the utmost privilege of having Florida Representative Anna Eskamani and Florida Representative David Smith come to our committee meetings.
One of the largest accomplishments of our committee is coordinating the lobbying platforms for the annual Day at the Capitol event. We write several legislative priorities that our students lobby for in Tallahassee at the Florida State Capitol. Our legislative priorities are also voted on within our Student Government Senate on behalf of the entire student body and university.
While both of our committees advocate for student voices and desires, GAP deals more with governmental affairs. The GAP Committee reaches out to government officials on behalf of our students and advocates for changes statewide.
